Returning to Gautier MS Aug 25

I am heading back to Gautier MS early on Sep 1. I will be the manager again in the village for Sep and Oct. During that time I will help in training the Young Adult Volunteers (YAV's)who will become the managers with a 1 year commitment.

Some of the PDA villages were inactive or closed for part of Aug as there were so few volunteers coming to do recover work. I will need to get it ready again for people such as restocking food, grounds and facilities cleaned up, tools gathered and reorganized. I will be anxious to see how the village may have changed since May 31 when I left. They did not get the kitchen built in June so that will be one of the high priority items, I understand. Plans are to also build a wooden office area which will be really nice and cooler instead of using the plastic huts.

I've heard from a couple people I knew from this spring who are coming back in Sep or Oct. It will be neat to see these familiar faces (friends) return. I'm also excited to see the people at Gautier Presby Church where I attended services.

I know it will be very hot down there with day temps in the 90's and nighttime lows in the 70's. I'm coming from cool daytime temps in the 60's and 70's for the last couple weeks in OR. That could be an adjustment for me.

Blessings to you,
Phyllis
